Arlistel Maxie

Recently, Arlistel Maxie of Atlanta was recognized for his participation in the food drive that combines efforts of the Lions Club, Brookshire’s Grocery Store and Mission Atlanta. Maxie was named Lion of the Month for his leadership.

That recognition only partially reflected his career of helping others. In May of 2023, Maxie had been recognized for more than 50 years of service to Atlanta by the Texas State House of Representatives.

He was presented with a flag flown for a day over the State Capitol.

Maxie had given 50 years of service to the Brookshire’s Grocery Corporation in management. While employed, he had been named market manager of the year for the Brookshire’s Corporation as well as market manager of the year for District 3. He retired from Brookshire’s in Atlanta on Dec. 31, 2022.

The president of the Brookshire’s corporation was there to present Maxie’s service award.

Maxie received an additional honor from the mayor of Atlanta who declared that the day of Dec. 31 will be declared Arlistel Maxie’s Day with a purpose to emphasize outstanding community and customer service. That day will be recognized annually.

Maxie is currently serving as a member of the board of trustee for the Atlanta Independent School District as well as a member of the Atlanta Lions Club where he is also chaplain.

As a pastor, he is a member of Unity District Baptist Association and serves as president of the Unity District Minister’s Conference. He received his license to preach on January 22, 2006. He was ordained Nov. 16, 2008, and installed as the pastor of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church on Dec. 13, 2009.

For the past 15 years, Maxie has been the pastor of Shiloh Missionary Baptist church. He has been the husband of First Lady Maxie for 20 years. He is also the father of three daughters.

He has baptized over 100 individuals. He performs Christian counseling as well as daily counseling. He has united several couples in holy matrimony and conducted numerous funerals and memorial services.

He has a growing online ministry where he posts live to three platforms each Sunday. He holds a Business Management Course Certification from Brookshire’s University, Certified Market Manager as well as a Certified Grief Counselor.
