Gobble Wobble 5K Run
Yes, the Atlanta Area Chamber of Commerce’s first Gobble Wobble 5K run and Drumstick Dash Saturday attracted runners -- from ones just a few years old to others several decades old.
And everyone seemed to enjoy this morning exercise just before Thanksgiving.
But the most fun may have been had by those in the best-tasting pumpkin pie contest. Everyone got to participate because at the end of the judging, the pies were open for eating. There were nine of them.
The winner of the pie contest, Jodi Garrison, got a blue ribbon, picture taken for the newspaper, and bragging rights for the rest of the year, according to Jill Crocker, president of the chamber.
Another activity on this fine fall day was over in the bowling lane. How about trying to knock down those pins with a frozen turkey as the bowling ball? It was called turkey bowling. Everyone was as much interested in the “roll” as in the “rack.”
There were other tables of interest at the Mattie Lanier Community Center. The public seemed impressed with so much wobbling going on. Gobble Wobble is kind of a community carnival.
This first edition will likely be followed by more.
