Outlaw brings couple inlaws
Barry and Marion Westmoreland from San Antonio won the Cullen Baker Country Fair Best Tee-Shirt award Saturday among the crowd of several thousand.
They won ... that is ... had there been a contest. As it was, it was no contest. The Westmorelands had met on this day at the Cullen Baker Fair of 1984. Forty years later, happily married, they’ve returned on the fair’s day one wearing these tee-shirts. Here’s what they said: -- He said: “I met her 1984” -- She said: “I met him 1984” -- And both said, “Cullen Baker” Both of these were at the Cullen Baker Fair this year, the first Saturday in November and for the fair’s 50th anniversary (1974-2024).
Westmoreland is a well-known Bloomburg family name. Lester Westmoreland had Lester Westmoreland’s General Merchandise Store. Barry has no more Westmorelands on his side of the family and has not returned that often to Bloomburg, but Marion has. She would bring their twin children to visit friends and relatives. Marion graduated as Marion Xenos from Bloomburg schools in 1982.
The two were tickled to be back, especially on the 50th anniversary day and as an anniversary of theirs, as well.
