Cass County forms Academic Partnership with Texas A&M-Texarkana
Texas A&M University-Texarkana (TAMUT) and Cass County have entered into a new academic partnership that will allow Cass County employees to take courses at the university at a discounted rate. The partnership was officially launched with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two entities. Texas A&M University-Texarkana serves as a valuable resource for our region.
The university provides a skilled workforce, offers opportunities for professional development, engages with the community, and contributes to the local economy. This partnership demonstrates the dedication of Texas A&M-Texarkana and Cass County to making higher education available to our workforce. This partnership works towards Cass County’s strategic goals and objectives to focus on employee retention and workforce training. This partnership will benefit our employees and our community. As an alumnus of A&M-Texarkana, I am especially excited to announce this new partnership.
Under the terms of the new academic agreement all fulltime employees of Cass County will receive a discount of 33% tuition discount on all undergraduate, graduate, certificate, or micro-credential programs delivered in-person, online, or through a hybrid format.
The agreement also waives the standard application fee. In addition to the tuition discount, any eligible employee who is a new student at the university will receive the First Flight Scholarship, which gives the new student their first class free if they are enrolled in at least 6 hours at the undergraduate or graduate level in addition to the 33% discount. Our partnership with A&M-Texarkana not only makes pursuing higher education accessible but also reinforces our commitment to the professional development of our employees.
Employees wishing to take advantage of the new partnership must meet the admissions standards of the program to which they apply and must remain in good academic standing. For additional information about this and additional academic partnerships please visit the university website at www.tamut.edu/partnerships.

Investing in Employees
“It’s hard to find good help” is a frequent refrain from employers these days. Employers want a trained and ready workforce. My background in the military shapes my perspective significantly on this subject. In the military, we spend an inordinate amount of time on the professional development, education and training of Soldiers and require it for promotion eligibility. The result is a competent, cohesive organization that is mission focused. Investing in your workforce always yields a great return on investment when you consider the benefit of retaining high quality employees. In partnering with Texas A&M-Texarkana, Cass County is demonstrating an innovative way to encourage and support County employees to upskill and seek higher education. Cass County has a rich heritage and a bright future.
