Atlanta man indicted for murder pleads not guilty
Russell Soule, from Atlanta, Texas, confessed to killing his girlfriend, Lindsey Torres, back in 2017.
In March of this year, Soule told investigators that he had strangled Torres in a bathtub following an argument at the Westwood Apartments in the 100 block of Redwater Road in Wake Village. The autopsy results concluded that Torres died of drowning and other injuries.
Torres and Soule were residing together in an apartment within the complex, but at the time of his arrest, Soule was picked up in Atlanta.
On Monday, July 29, Soule entered a not guilty plea at his arraignment.
He had previously been released June 7, from Bi-State Detention Center, because of insufficient evidence.
However, his case went to a grand jury on July 9, this time resulting in an indictment. He’s been in custody at the Bowie County Correctional Center since then.
Soule’s bonds were set at $1.25 million for the capital murder charge by terroristic threat, $1 million for the second count of murder charge, $250,000 for second-degree manslaughter, $150,000 for the aggravated sexual assault and the sexual assault was set at $100,000.
Soule’s trial has been scheduled for 9 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 26.
