Superintendent announces plans to retire

The Linden-Kildare School Board has announced the retirement of Linden- Kildare Superintendent Kerry Winters. Winters has served in the district since 2012 and as the Superintendent since 2017. March 29, 2024, will be her last day.

In the release issued by the School Board. The board gave more information on the transition and her time in the district. “After twelve years of service to the Linden-Kildare.

“CISD Independent School District community and twenty-nine years in public education, Keri Winters announced today she will retire after seven years as Superintendent of Schools.

Winters’s last day in the district will be March 29, 2024; she will remain an employee of the school district until December 30, 2024, to assist with the transition of leadership.

“During Winters’ tenure, the District has been fiscally conservative, maintaining a balanced budget for many years, as well as a strong fund balance despite challenges with state and federal funding.

“During her seven years as superintendent at Linden- Kildare CISD, Winters oversaw the construction of a new $4 million building at the elementary without raising a bond, opening a daycare center in the district for the Linden community and increasing accountability ratings. ‘I have been blessed to work with wonderful people at Linden- Kildare CISD. Our leadership team, teachers, and staff deserve all of the credit for working together as a team for the success of our students. The District is in excellent shape and will continue to accomplish great things in the future.’ said Superintendent Winters.”

About Keri Winters

“Winters has been the Superintendent of Schools in Linden-Kildare CISD since August 2017. Prior to this appointment, Winters served as principal of Linden-Kildare High School since 2012. Her vast educational experience includes serving as a math teacher and coach, junior high and high school principal, and superintendent. According to Mrs. Winters, she’s looking forward to the next chapter with future opportunities and spending more time with her family. Also, she wanted to give the board enough time to hire a new superintendent. “A Texas native, Keri Winters grew up in Elysian Fields, TX. Winters received her undergraduate degree in Mathematics and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University where she was an Academic All-American 4-year team member of the nationally ranked women’s basketball team.

“Accomplishments in her career include 2014 TREA Principal of the Year, 2015 TASSP Region VIII Principal of the Year, 2016-2018 TASSP Regional Coordinator, Region VIII, 2016-2018 T ASSP Legislative Committee Representative, Region VIII. She has remained very involved in the community by currently serving as a board member for NET Emmaus, CSNT, and RMC, as well as attending Lion’s Club, City Council, EDC and other community meetings.”
