Atlanta man charged in connection with $1M in stolen items

A search warrant led to the arrest of an Atlanta resident who was allegedly found with more than $1 million in stolen items. William Joshua Thompson, 43, was arrested and booked into the Cass County Jail for theft of property over $300,000, a first-degree felony. Thompson was also charged with the following: Possession of a controlled substance 1<4G Possession of a controlled substance PG 3 <28G According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the warrant was executed Monday, following a multi-agency investigation in Cass County.

“The joint operation, involving the Texas DPS Criminal Investigation Division, Texas Highway Patrol Division, Cass County Sheriff ’s Office, and Cass County District Attorney’s Office, led to the discovery of stolen equipment belonging to Graphic Packaging International (GPI),” DPS said. “GPI personnel assisted officers in identifying and removing the stolen property from the residence. GPI personnel estimated the stolen property worth more than $1,000,000.”

Located in Queen City, Graphic Packaging International is a company that produces paper packaging for many corporations and businesses on a large scale. No further information has yet been released.
