McLeod hosted Harleton for a district battle on Jan. 19. The boys’ team ran its record to 28-2 after a 44-30 win and the Lady Longhorns topped Harleton 49-37.

Longhorns

McLeod jumped out to a 19-6 lead after the first quarter and held onto a 24-15 lead at the break.

Kannon Dempsey added another double-double to his season stats as he poured in 18 points and roped 12 rebounds.

Jaxon Smith nearly tallied a double-double of his own as he scored nine points with nine boards, Grayson Owens added seven points and Colton Spence put up six points with five rebounds.

The JV ’Horns beat Harleton 37-21 with Jacob Foster scoring 10 points.

Lady Longhorns

McLeod had a solid 14-3 lead after the first quarter and a commanding 28-12 lead at halftime.

Kenslee Cross was on fire as the Homecoming Queen recorded a double-double after scorching the nets for 27 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.

Gracey Vick had five points with five boards, Baleigh Terry added five points, Madison Blair added four points with seven steals and four rebounds, Lila McKnight had four points and Jacqulyn Shepherd pulled down five rebounds.

In the JV Game the Lady Longhorns edged Harleton 20-18 with Ramos and Blackburn scoring five points apiece.

On Jan. 4, both Atlanta and Queen City powerlifters took part in the Redwater Boys’ Tri-Meet.

Redwater won the event, QC was second and Atlanta was third.
