Republican political forum set for Thursday

Cass County Residents will have an excellent opportunity to meet with and question candidates that will be on the Primary Election Ballot in MARCH at a “Potatoes and Politics” event on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at the Mattie Lanier Richy Center, 101 Sportsplex Drive in Atlanta, Texas.

The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for attendees to enjoy a free loaded potato meal until 6:00 p.m. A forum will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the candidates introduced and questioned by moderator, Cass County Judge, Travis Ransom. Questions will be submitted at the door or by email, and will not be taken from the floor. Submit questions in advance to casscountychair@gmail. com. Cards will be provided at the door to submit questions upon arrival.

There will be opportunity for anyone who is not registered to vote to do so at the meeting. We will have a Depuy Registrar available to assist with registrations. There will be Patriotic merchandise available for purchase at the event.

Candidates for the House District 1 State Representative race will be in attendance to answer questions and share information about their intentions. Those candidates are; Representative Gary VanDeaver from New Boston, Mr. Dale Huls from Texarkana, and Mr. Chris Spencer from Hughes Springs.

Cass County candidates will be introduced by Judge Ransom and the contested race for Precinct 3 County Commissioner candidates will make brief statements. Candidates for Precinct 3 Commissioner are Mr. Doug Lance, Mr. David Hill, and Mr. Charles Robison. All candidates will be available at the end of the forum to meet and visit with the in-person until 8:00 p.m.

• Last day to register- February 5, 2024

• Mail-in Ballot Application deadline- February 23, 2024
