Region 8 ESC announces leadership conference

Region 8 Educational Service Center is pleased to announce the upcoming 2024 Student Leadership Conference scheduled for January 10, 2024. This event, hosted at the Region 8 Education Service Center, will bring together student leaders from over 40 school districts across Northeast Texas.

The conference aims to inspire the next generation of leaders through a day of engaging activities, including a captivating keynote address, student-led breakout sessions, networking opportunities, and professional development sessions for accompanying educators. This year’s event will showcase the successful leadership program of Texarkana Independent School District (TISD).

The keynote speaker for the event is Mr. John Thomas Borowitz, a 2022 graduate of Texas High School (Texarkana ISD), currently pursuing his education at Harvard University. Mr. Borowitz will share insights and experiences that have shaped his journey as a young leader.

Breakout sessions, facilitated by students from Texarkana ISD, will be held throughout the day. These sessions will provide attendees with practical skills, strategies, and inspiration to practice school and community leadership.

In addition to student-focused sessions, the conference will offer two adult professional development sessions designed to equip educators with valuable tools and knowledge to support and foster leadership skills in their students.
