Memorial Christmas Give
The Fairview Junior Senior High School Reunion Corporation held its 11th annual Memorial Christmas Give Saturday. Some 150 Christmas dinner boxes were distributed.
The event honors M. J. and Audrey Mae Barrett.
The reunion was the brainchild of the Rev. John Givens. It celebrated its first gathering in 1981. Rev. Givens then enlisted the aid of other Fairview alumni and put together an honorary program for Samuel Houston Hennington, Sr., the former principal of Fairview High School for 31 years.
Since then the FRC has raised money for scholarships for area youths and constructed the Fairview Community Center which was completed in 2007.
The overall intent of the FRC is to keep the memory of Fairview alive and remain relevant and supportive of the community by “caring and sharing.”
The 150 Christmas dinners were put together in boxes by community members and consisted of turkey, ham and trimmings necessary for a complete dinner.
Cars and people are packed at the Fairview Community Center near Linden as Fairview Jr-Sr High School Reunion Corporation holds its 11th annual Memorial Christmas Give.
