Bloomburg
Bloomburg’s varsity girls’ basketball team has been rolling to kick off the new season.
On Nov. 3 the Lady Wildcats thumped Redwater 50-12 and followed that up with a 64-30 thrashing of Harts Bluff on Nov. 7.
On Nov. 10, the Lady ’Cats breezed by county foe Atlanta 56-38 with Cassie Glasgow posting 31 points and 10 rebounds, Kaleigh Glasgow pouring in 11 points and Jacee Glasgow recording 12 points, seven assists and seven steals.
In the game the Lady Wildcats as a team Knocked down nine 3’s. With that win Bloomburg is 3-0 and ranked just outside the top 20 in Class 1A. In the TGCA poll the Lady Wildcats are ranked ninth.
With play like that expect that ranking to change quickly.
McLeod
McLeod’s basketball programs battled Harts Bluff on Nov. 10.
Longhorns
The varsity boys’ matchup was another battle between Lambeth coaches. In this contest the Longhorns used a big second-half push to run away with a 55-27 victory.
McLeod had a 16-5 lead coming out of the first frame and a 24-12 at the half. A 31-15 run in the second iced the game for the ’Horns.
Colton Spence and Grayson Owens each scored 13 apiece, Kannon Dempsey added 10, Kason Cook eight, Clay Hartsell five, Trey Gant four and Jaxon Smith two.
Smith, Dempsey and Jase Deaton all pulled down five rebounds each. The JV ’Horns topped Harts Bluff 48-24 with Jacob Foster torching the nets with 11 points.
Lady Longhorns
After a nice win over county foe Atlanta on Nov. 4, the Lady Longhorns went to war with Harts Bluff.
This game was a back-and-forth affair but in the end the Lady Bulldogs pulled off a slim 32-29 win over McLeod.
The game was tied 5-all coming out of quarter one but an 11-5 run by Harts Bluff set the score at 16-10 going into halftime. The Lady Longhorns outscored Harts Bluff 6-1 in the third stanza to pull within 17-16.
The final frame was a barnburner as the Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady ’Horns 15-13.
Kenslee Cross poured in 14 points, Lila McKnight added eight and Jacqulyn Shepherd had four.
