Wong wins second place at piano festival
On Saturday, Nov. 11, Texarkana College hosted the annual James Herrin Piano Festival to remember Mr. Herrin’s contributions as a musician and teacher at Texarkana College. This event is sponsored by the TC Music Department and the Texas Music Teachers Association.
Queen City High School student Vincent Wong earned the second place in the High School Senior Competition Category.
Wong is a student of piano instructor Larry Dymott. The James Herrin Piano Festival and Competition was established in memory of James Herrin, a much loved and respected Professor of Piano at Texarkana College for many years. He was known for holding high standards in music education and always working for the success of his students.
He was also Organist at First Baptist Church on Moores Lane for many years. This event is sponsored by the Texarkana Music Teachers Association, Texarkana College and Judy Morgan.
