Cullen Baker Fair
Over 200 vendors were present at the beginning of the Cullen Baker Fair Saturday in Bloomburg.
And likely 2,000 people were along the 10 a.m. parade path. The weather was fine, food abundant, vendors cordial and crowd orderly.
A year of planning goes into the fair, and it’s all volunteer.
Organizers say they were pleased with this year’s 47th edition and are ready to start on the 48th.
The Baker name is meaningless any longer. Beauty and baby pageants join with the frying of more than 2,000 pies, running 3 K’s and rubbing shoulders with friends you don’t recognize because they’ve grown or shorn a beard. But the main thing is just seeing all these people who do things to put on tables and talk about.
It’s just fun. Here is a look at seven scenes made in the morning hours Saturday.
Notice everyone’s smiling and hardly anyone is looking at a cell phone. That should tell us all something.
