Rabbits lose heartbreak game to Gladewater, 28-20

While a close game in the second half, Atlanta ultimately ended up losing to Gladewater by a final score of 28 – 20.

Not scoring any points early, the points they scored proved to be too little, too late, as this brings Atlanta’s district record to 2 – 2.

First Quarter

Gladewater won the coin toss and chose to defer. After some light backand- forth, The Bears managed to score the first and only touchdown of the first quarter, followed by a successful extra point, bringing the score to 7 – 0.

Second Quarter

Keeping the pace of the first quarter, no side was able to dominate the other, with the only points scored being another touchdown and extra point from Gladewater, leaving the final score of the second quarter at 14 – 0.

Third Quarter

Not long into the third quarter, Zamarian Ivery scored a touchdown on a 16-yard fumble, followed by an extra point from Haruto Tamita, bringing the score to 14 – 7. The Bears were able to score another touchdown and extra point, keeping their lead with a score of 21 – 7.

Soon after, Atlanta wrapped up the third quarter with Marquavion Owens scoring a touchdown on a 66-yard pass from Peyton Harrison, followed by another extra point from Tamita, making the score 21 – 14.

Fourth Quarter

After getting the ball on an unsuccessful push from Atlanta, Gladewater scored another touchdown, followed by a successful extra point, bringing the score to 28 – 14.

The Rabbits then scored the final points of the game, with Braylyn Rowe scoring a touchdown on a 33-yard pass by Harrison, leaving the final score of the game at 28 - 20.

With a district score of 2 – 2, the Rabbits will be traveling to Tatum for this week’s district game on Friday at 7 p.m.
