Lady Tigers win District, Bi-District titles
The Linden-Kildare Lady Tiger varsity volleyball team ended the regular season with an 8-1 District record. This solidified first place and an 18-2A District championship.
“My coaching staff (Shardai Love and Shenari Green) and I have a great group of young ladies to work with this year. They set goals at the beginning of the season and have worked hard every day to accomplish those goals,” Head Coach Shekita Love-Martin said. “Our motto this year is ‘Committed to the Process’. We used the scripture: Proverbs 16:3-‘Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.’ I am so proud to be able to coach such an awesome group of young ladies.”
The last time the Lady Tigers were district champions was in 1999 under the leadership of Coach Shekita Love-Martin.
This year’s District Championship team was also coached by Coach Shekita Love-Martin. Coach Love-Martin got back into coaching volleyball after retiring from coaching nine years ago. L-K’s JV1 team was crowned “Undefeated District Champions”, coached by Shardai Love. Being able to go up against the varsity team day in and day out has helped these young ladies maintain that competitive edge throughout the season.
The Lady Tigers also won a Bi-District title without even playing a match. Their opponent forfeited the contest which gave the Lady Tigers another title to add to its collection.
The school district is very proud of the hard work and dedication that these young ladies had every single day. The Lady Tiger volleyball program has a bright future ahead.
