Atlanta Middle School Rabbs battle Liberty-Eylau

The Rabbs found themselves in a 22-0 hole but battled back to make it 22-14.

First Quarter

The Rabbs turned the ball over on their first play from scrimmage. Liberty-Eylau answered quickly on a long touchdown pass which brought the score to 6-0.

Second Quarter

Atlanta’s next drive stalled out and L-E scored again on another long pass. The 2-point try was good to make it 14-0.

Atlanta turned it over again on their next drive, unable to get much going in the first half.

Third Quarter

L-E tacks on another score to make it 22-0. The Rabbs were forced to punt on their next drive.

Fourth Quarter

The Atlanta defense stood tall and got the ball back quickly. On the next play Brayden Thompson rolls right, and finds Kelvin Roberson wide open up the far sideline, he takes it all the way in from 52 yards out. Kaiden Howell added the 2-point run to make it 22-8.

The defense for Atlanta once again stood tall, giving the offense another chance. A few plays later, on fourth down Thompson scrambles and finds Aiden Shields in the flats, the fullback rumbles all the way down inside the L-E 10 for a huge gain.

Thompson gets the ball down inside the one on the next play and Howell punches it in to make it 2214. Riley Sutton kicks a nice onside kick, that just bounces off the fingertips of the Rabbs and L-E recovers to end the game.

This game was a battle from the first snap, hard hitting, physical football game that ended in a 14-14 tie.

First Quarter

Both teams exchange three-and-outs and both defenses won the battle up front early in the game.

Second Quarter

The Rabbit defense forces a fumble, recovered by Breckin Wells. The Rabbs put together a nice drive, with two completions from Dre Simmons to Wells, and nice runs from Jamario Crawford and Simmons.

TJ Rainey caps the drive with a 13- yard scamper to put the Rabbs up. Crawford added the 2-point run and the Rabbits were up 8-0. Ean Riojas sacked the Liberty-Eylau QB to end the half.

Third Quarter

The Rabbs put together a nice opening drive, capped off with a 7-yard keeper from Simmons to make it 14-0. Once again, L-E was not able to get anything going on offense.

Fourth Quarter

Atlanta puts together another nice drive and takes the ball inside the 5-yard line. L-E intercepts a pass on fourth down and takes it all the way back for a score.

L-E’s defense stood tall on the Rabbs’ next drive, and put together another nice drive, scoring on fourth down on a 15-yard pass to tie the game.

Neither team was able to get into the endzone again and in non-district middle school football games, there is no overtime. The game ended in a tie.
