Rabbits fall to Liberty-Eylau,36-14

Back with another home game, Atlanta was unable to bring the fire that they had in the first two games of the season against Liberty-Eylau.

The first half of the game made it look like this would be a close match between both teams, but the Leopards quickly found their momentum in the third quarter and dominated the second half with a final score of 36-14. That leaves Atlanta’s season record at 2-2.

First Quarter

Atlanta won the coin toss and chose to defer to the second half. Following this was an evenly matched first quarter, with both teams keeping each other at a standstill. With no points being scored, it was unclear how the second quarter would develop.

Second Quarter

The second quarter kept the tension high, with Atlanta scoring the first touchdown of the night on a 95-yard touchdown by Marquavion Owens after a pass by Peyton Harrison. The Rabbits followed this up with a 2-point conversion from a handoff, scored by Markeylin Batton.

Not letting Atlanta keep the lead for long, the Leopards kept up with them, scoring a touchdown of their own. Immediately after, they tied the game up with a 2-point conversion, making the score a close 8–8. With both teams remaining evenly matched with each other, this is where the score remained until the start of the third quarter.

Third Quarter

Starting strong, Batton managed to get a touchdown for Atlanta off the first play of the second half. Missing the 2-point conversion, this would bring the score to 14–8, with this ultimately being Alanta’s final score of the night before it became L-E’s game.

It wasn’t long after Atlanta’s touchdown that the Leopards scored one as well, missing the 2-point conversion as Atlanta had before them, making the score 14–14. From here, L-E ended up getting another touchdown with 6:16 left in the third quarter. Following this touchdown with a successful 2-point conversion, L-E brought the score to 22–14.

Keeping the momentum going, L-E capped off the third quarter with one final touchdown and an extra point, making the final score of the third quarter 2914.

Fourth Quarter

Liberty-Eylau cemented their victory by scoring another touchdown, followed by a successful attempt at an extra point, bringing the final score to 36–14. While the rest of the fourth quarter slowed back down, with L-E not gaining any more points in the game, it was still a strong victory for the Leopards.

Next week we’ll see if Atlanta can bring the steam that they had in the first two games of the season as they travel to Brook Hill on Friday, Sept. 22. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
