Rabbits fall to New Boston, 29-20
After a slow first quarter followed by a delay due to bad weather Friday night, Atlanta suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday. With the board being wiped clean from their lead on Friday, New Boston was able to bring it back around and win the game with a final score of 29 – 20.
While this week’s game didn’t see nearly as many points scored from either team as last week’s, New Boston managed to take the game in the second half, with 10 more points than Atlanta, leaving the Rabbits’ record at 2-1 for the season.
First Quarter
Starting off relatively slowly, only seven points were scored in the first quarter, giving New Boston the lead with a score of 7-0. With the Lions scoring both the touchdown and the extra point, this set them ahead of where they were in the first quarter on Friday prior to the game being postponed.
Second Quarter
Keeping the score at a relatively even level, Atlanta took the lead with a touchdown of their own, followed by a successful 2-point conversion that brought the score to an Atlanta-led 8 -7.
Third Quarter
While Atlanta had found some momentum at this point, managing to score another touchdown with no extra points, New Boston had ended up taking this quarter. Before the fourth quarter, New Boston managed to get a decent lead over Atlanta, scoring two touchdowns, one with an extra point and the other with a 2-point conversion, leaving the third quarter with a score of 22-14.
Fourth Quarter
Unfortunately for the Rabbits, while they were able to score another touchdown, without any extra points or follow-up scores, New Boston was able to clean up the fourth quarter. With a touchdown of their own and an extra point to follow, the Lions were able to come out of this game with a final score of 29-20.
The Rabbits will host Liberty-Eylau this Friday at 7:30 p.m. as they plan to push past this loss and get a triumphant victory.
