MUMS football tops Eagles

The Queen City Bulldogs, seventh and eighth grade, opened their season with a convincing 26-0 victory over the Como-Pickton Eagles last Thursday, Sept. 7.

Como-Pickton received the opening kickoff and was unable to move the ball. The Eagle punt was blocked by Raylen Dowden, setting up the Bulldogs deep in Eagle territory. It didn’t take the Bulldogs long to reach the endzone as Semaj Booth scored on a 35 yd run. The try for two failed leaving the score 6-0 with 2:28 remaining in the first quarter. The ensuing kickoff to the Eagles was recovered by Semaj Booth setting the Bulldogs up on the Eagles 35 yd line. The Bulldogs scored four plays later on Brady Majors 24-yard run. The try for two again failed; leaving the score 12-0 with 0:46 left in the quarter.

The Bulldogs continued their scoring as Brady Majors connected on a 24 yd scoring pass. The try for two was successful as Majors connected with Dowden, making the score 20-0 with 4:36 left in the second quarter. The defense continued its impressive play as they forced the Eagles to turn the ball over on downs. Semaj Booth scored the final points of the game on a 66-yard run. The try for two failed making the final score 26-0 as neither team would score in the second half.

This week, the Bulldogs will travel to Harleton.
