Class of ’73 celebrates 50 years
The class of 1973 celebrated their 50th high school reunion on Saturday, July 1, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the First Baptist Family Life Center on Allday Street in Atlanta, Texas.
There were 25 people in attendance from Ohio, Michigan, Oklahoma, and Texas - Atlanta, Austin, Midland, and the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex, along with retired AISD teachers Mrs. Jean Johnson Roquemore and Mrs. Georgia Lawson.
It was a fun day of fellowship and reflections. The day began with a Meet and Greet, Continental breakfast, continued with lunch, games, and prizes, and culminated with a banquet.
The Keynote speaker for the banquet was Rev. Dr. Otis Winkley, a former AISD student.
Following his speech was a solo, “A Change is Going to Come”, by Donald Allen.
Delois Gulley Webster and Deborah Lawson gave a beautiful candle memorial tribute to classmates who have passed on.
Special thank you to: KPYN radio station, and the Cass County Citizens Journal-Sun for publicizing the event, local Atlanta merchants and banks who contributed to the ‘swag bags’, Loretta Edwards for free books and literature, and Mae Miller Brown for the customized AISD Rabbit logo water bottles.
