AgriLife Extension county agent hired in hometown
Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service hired a hometown agent for Cass County after a round of hiring new county agents across the state, as well as transfers within the agency, according to the publication AgriLife Today.
Cass County is part of District Four, which is headed up in Dallas, Texas.
This July, it was announced Lindsay Hergert, of Atlanta, Texas, will work in Cass County in family and community health, according to the online publication.
Hergert earned her bachelor’s in inte- rior design at Texas Tech University, a master’s of exercise science at the California University of Pennsylvania as well as a master’s in education at the University of Arizona, according to her bio.
Hergert spent 10 years teaching life sciences at the high school and middle school levels after working as a personal fitness trainer and a volleyball coach.
“I joined AgriLife Extension to get out of the confines of the classroom so I could reach a broader population and improve the overall health of my community,” Hergert said.
She told the publication she was very excited about meeting members of the community who will share her passion for all things health and wellness.
“AgriLife Extension employs county agents to serve every Texas county,” the publication wrote. “These county agents are the agency’s connection with the people in communities. They are instrumental in providing handson education and programming based on scientific research.”
