School Retiree Association presents books

Every May, the Eastern Cass County School Retiree Association presents books to a certain grade level at the primary level. Our unit is blessed to know Evelyn Dickerson who is a retired educator from the Dallas ISD and Paul Quinn College. Evelyn has been giving the gift of literacy to our unit for several years. She is a Christian woman and comments, “that giving is the key that makes your heart feel joy because the more you give the more God gives to you.”

Known as “Mrs. D” to most of her friends, she contacted an author, Gene Legler, who donated his book, “My Huggy Bear”. Mr. Legler donated enough books to supply Atlanta, Bloomburg, McLeod and Queen City primary students. There is a saying that is not what you know it’s who you know. Our unit is blessed to know Evelyn Dickerson who is the sister to one of our retirees, Mildred Harris.
