Lady Bulldogs’ epic run ends

Queen City’s softball team made school history this season as they advanced into the Regional Semifinals for the first time.

The Lady Bulldogs were matched with the No. 4 team in the state and gave them an unforgettable series.

Whitesboro did just enough to take both games by identical scores of 2-1, and with that the Lady Bulldogs’ season was over.

The Lady Bearcats skipped through district play undefeated and normally beat its opponents by more than five runs, but QC gave them all they could handle.

In game one, Trinity Oden struck out eight batters in the first game and Kelsey Nash hit an RBI single. Mallori Stringer added a triple and Laurel Moore hit a single. In the second game of the series, Oden mirrored her strikeouts with eight, Brenna Turbeville had two hits with an RBI, Serenity Oden added a base hit, Kelsey Nash hit a single and Lauren Carrell hit a single.

The talented ladies from #theCity were dangerous in spots one through nine in the lineup, and just as dangerous in the field.

Trinity Oden was the Nolan Ryan of softball as she rang up 303 batters from the circle this season and eclipsed the 500-strikeout mark of her high school playing days during the season. She had a 1.83 ERA and was 25-5 on the year.

She was also the Hammerin’ Hank Aaron of softball from the dish as she blasted 17 homeruns, had 40 hits and had a batting average of .404.

Brenna Turbeville recorded a .415 batting average with 51 hits and 37 RBIs, Erica Lavoie had a solid OPS of .704 and had 26 hits with 20 RBIs, Jacey Cauthorn added 30 hits with 22 RBIs and a .707 OPS, Laurel Moore posted a .709 OPS with 20 hits, Mallori Stringer had a .370 batting average with a .611 slugging average, 40 hits, with four homers and 37 RBIs, Kelsey Nash added a .643 OPS with 24 hits and 11 RBIs, Keeli Mainer had a .627 OPS with 13 hits, Serenity Oden had a .976 OPS with 43 hits, four bombs and 42 RBIs and Lauren Carrell put up a .766 OPS with 30 hits and 12 RBIs.

And last but certainly not least skipper Eric Droddy picked up his 100th win as the softball coach at QCHS after the Lady Bulldogs topped rival Atlanta during the regular season.
