Cass County students win big at Cattleman’s Association

The Cass County Cattlemen’s Association held their annual show on March 23rd at the Expo Center in Atlanta, Texas, according to Jessica Rymel Fitzgerald, county agricultural extension agent. “Students from each school FFA Program in the county and youth who participate in the county 4-H Program have the opportunity to exhibit their beef projects at the annual show,” Fitzgerald said.

“Youth show their steer projects, commercial heifer projects, and registered heifer projects, and the steer projects and commercial heifer projects were offered for sale to the public following the Parade of Champions.”

Fitzgerald said Cass County 4-H member Payton Harris was awarded Grand Champion Steer.

“Her project was purchased by Dylan Thompson Wealth Management, a local Atlanta Business,” Fitzgerald said.

“Cass County 4-H member Mallory Hamilton was awarded reserve Champion Steer. Her steer was also born and bred in Cass County.”
