The recent Main Street meeting began with a recap of the social, regarding the “Spring - Fling” and how successful it went. With 18 different vendors at the event, Main Street was able to raise lots of funds to put toward future activities for the Linden area. They also discussed a few stories about the positive reviews they received regarding the event.
In addition, they also held a discussion about the details of a new event they would like to put together. Though they have yet to fabricate a name for it, they have decided on a date for this event, which will be the 13 of May. The event will be centered around a Mother’s Day theme, so Main Street has decided to purchase a bundle of about 100 stems of carnations to pass out to any mother in attendance at the event. They have also decided the time of the event will be from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.
The Main Street Club also collectively agreed they would all like to show support for the newer Linden area business. The newer business “Becca Brews”, now located at 129 W Houston in Linden, is a coffee shop that had its ribbon cutting ceremony at 4:30 on the 29 of March. The Main Street Club discussed advertising the business over social media and decided that they would like to attend to take photos and show support.
There was also talk of an idea to make a Main Street history window walk. This idea would consist of painting on Linden square store windows in various images depicting Linden’s history.
As far as future plans go on Main Street’s itinerary, the group plans to try to spotlight different businesses in the Linden area at least twice a month. They also decided that due to the Wildflower Trails preparation and plans, they will not be having a monthly meeting in May, but instead, have agreed to hold the next one on the 18 of April.
