Lady Longhorns beat Chireno for Area title

The Lady Longhorns, fresh off a Bi-District win over Overton, beat the No. 8 team in Class 2A Chireno 41-32 for an Area crown.

McLeod jumped out to a hot start with a 7-2 first-quarter lead but a 12-9 run by the Lady Owls closed the gap as the Lady ’Horns had a slim 16-14 lead at the half.

Chireno led 24-23 going in to the final frame but the Lady Longhorns turned on the jets and went on an 18-8 run to seal the victory.

Kenslee Cross scored 13 points, Chassie Gryder added eight, Reagan Johnson seven, Jaci Armstrong seven and Reagan Mitchell six.
