McLeod thumps Ore City

McLeod’s basketball programs took on Ore City Jan .31, and both teams picked up district wins.

The boys topped the Rebels 44-31, the girls hammered the Lady Rebels 59-13 and the JV boys’ team won 28-14.

Longhorns

The Longhorns (21-9) had a close 18-15 lead at halftime but pulled away in the second half with a 26-16 run which completed the 13-point victory.

Brennan Penny scored 15 points, Kannon Dempsey added 12, Grayson Owens had seven, Henry Teer four, Jaxon Smith four and Parker Patrick two.

The JV team won 28-14 as both Braden Dupree and Kasey Cook scored seven points apiece.

Lady Longhorns

The Lady Longhorns dominated the first quarter 17-5 and had a commanding 30-9 lead at the break. The second half was no better for Ore City as McLeod (18-4, 8-2) outscored them 22-0 in the third frame and 7-4 in the final stanza to complete the route.

Chassie Gryder posted 16 points, Kenslee Cross added 15, Reagan Johnson poured in 14, Jaco Armstrong had 11, Sarah Ragland two and Reagan Mitchell one.
