Area intersections to receive safety lighting

Texas Department of Transportation is preparing to install new safety lighting at a total of eleven area intersections, according to TxDOT reports.

Plans are in place for new lighting installations at five intersections in Cass County and six in neighboring Bowie County.

“The nighttime lighting systems to be installed are safety enhancements that will provide LED lighting to increase visibility and awareness of the intersection,” said Christina Trowler, TxDOT Atlanta District Director of Transportation Operations.

WG Engineering & Construction of Allen, Texas are expected to begin work this Spring, Trowler said. The limited liability company (LLC) was awarded the contract with a bid of $1,397,827.97.

Trowler said the project should take about 11 months to complete, weather permitting.

TxDOT reported the intersections scheduled for improvements include: Cass County— Texas State Highways 77 and 43; Farm to Market Roads 1399 and 995; State Hwy. 43 and FM Road 125; FM Roads 251 and 3129; and FM Roads 2791 and 96.

Bowie County— U.S. Hwy. 67 and State Hwy 8; U.S Hwy. 67 and FM Road 2148 South; U.S. Hwy. 67 and FM Road 3098; U.S. Hwy. 259 and FM Road 44; Interstate 30 and FM Road 560; Interstate 30 and 86 Spur Road.
