At the January meeting, Mark Epperson Chapter United States Daughters of 1812 Historian Iva Rountree presented Tammie Duncan Blackburn the U.S.D.1812 National American History Award. This award included a certificate from Historian National and a pin. Tammie is well known for her efforts to locate, maintain, preserve, and restore historic sites around Northeast Texas.
She is a certified historical reenactor, often presenting interpretations for the Texarkana Museums System, local and Texas lineage societies, and local cemeteries. She actively supports American History essay contests promoted by Daughters of the American Revolution. She serves on preservation boards in Atlanta and Texarkana.
