McLeod’s basketball program traveled just a few miles to Linden-Kildare High School on Dec. 20, for a district match against the Tigers.

The Longhorns won 64-9 with Kannon Dempsey scorching the nets for 26 points, Henry Teer added 11, Jaxon Smith put up 10, Parker Patrick nine, Jay Greene three, Austin McGray three, Jase Deaton two and Trenton McKnight one.

The Lady Longhorns won its game 60-17 behind Chassie Gryder’s 23 points, Reagan Johnson’s 12 points, Kenslee Cross’ 12 points, Reagan Mitchell’s eight points and Jaci Armstrong’s five points.

In the JV contest, McLeod won 35-5 with Rylee Parker leading all scorers with 14 points.

Queen City On Dec. 20, the Queen City boys’ basketball teams opened 14 3A district play against the Hooks Hornets. The JV suffered their first loss of the season. The varsity gave a valiant effort, but still fell on the short end 54-30.

There is an opportunity to catch the Bulldogs in action at Sloan Gymnasium over the break. On Wednesday, Dec. 28, Henderson will be in town, with tipoff set for noon JV and Varsity again will follow.
