Bulldogs compete in tourney
The Queen City varsity boys’ basketball team took part in the White Oak Tournament this past weekend. The Bulldogs faced the host team, the White Oak Roughnecks, at 9:30 Thursday morning.
QC scratched and clawed with the hosts but eventually fell short 41-29. That night, the Bulldogs faced the East Texas Home School Chargers and lost by the slim margin of five points.
The next morning, QC played Union Grove but would come up short in this game as well by a score of 66-61.
On Saturday morning, the Bulldogs were able to grab a win after facing another Cass County foe in the Linden-Kildare Tigers. The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead and controlled the game throughout. When the clock struck zero, Queen City had amassed a victory of 46-22.
The kids played hard each and every game. Bright spots in the tournament were Reginald Harrison, who paced the scoring each night. He averaged 20.7 points per game in the four games played. Messiah Grundy and Isaac Thomas caused havoc defensively on the perimeter for other teams as well as Clayton Whittenberg did inside.
The Bulldogs were in action Tuesday night as they headed down HWY’s 155/259 to face Ore City’s JV team. Then on Thursday, the varsity boys are scheduled to take on Harmony in the Big Sandy Tournament at 1:30 p.m. This may be subject to change due to Harmony still playing football in the state playoffs.
