Area man Facing 41 counts of child pornography possession

Similar charges levied in Cass County, including indecency with a child by exposure

A Bowie County man is scheduled for a pretrial hearing on December 6 after being arraigned before 102nd District Judge Jeff Addison in Bowie County, according to area news reports. The man has pleaded not guilty to more than 40 counts of child pornography.

Stephen Anthony Green Jr, 27, faces 41 counts of possession of child pornography and three counts of possession with intent to promote child pornography in Bowie County, Mike Jones, Texarkana, Texas Police Department spokesman said.

Reports state that likewise, in Cass County, Green also faces charges of possession with intent to promote child pornography and indecency with a child by exposure.

“This case began in November 2021 when one of our investigators received a tip through the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children,” Jones said. “After an extensive investigation, Green was arrested on February 17, 2022.”

Gazette staff reported police had searched the man’s Nichols Road apartment in January, seizing a number of electronic devices, and that Green was first indicted on three counts of possession with intent to promote child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography in April by a Bowie County grand jury–to which he also pleaded not guilty. Forty-one additional counts were handed down in October and a hold has been placed on Green by Cass County Sheriff ’s Office.

VINELink shows Green is being held in Bowie County Correctional Facility, with bail tallying up to $300,000.

Green, if convicted, could face two to 20 years for each count of possession with intent to promote child pornography. He could also be facing two to 10 years in prison for each count of possession of child pornography if convicted.
