Keep an eye on your health

After celebrating her 61st birthday, Starr found a lump in her left breast. She regrets she had delayed getting her annual mammogram screenings on a regular basis recently and believes her breast cancer could have been detected earlier. However, receiving treatment at the CHRISTUS St. Michael W. Temple Webber Cancer Center, Starr remains positive in her cancer journey.
“I believe God uses medicine and doctors to heal. And I believe that’s what He’s doing. God always watches out for us. And He weaves these things in and out of our lives to get us to places that He wants us to be. And sometimes He needs to weave in those dark threads in the picture to make the picture beautiful.
I just want to encourage every woman out there, do not be scared to get a mammogram. Please go! Start early! Get your mammograms, keep an eye on your health and catch it early.”
In addition to her positivity, Starr has managed to keep her sense of humor intact. “I told my husband, Keith, he really knew how to show a girl a good time on our 38th wedding anniversary. That’s the day I received my port for administration of my chemotherapy.”
