Atlanta Middle School cruises past White Oak

The Atlanta Middle School football teams swept White Oak last week. The seventh grade A team won 34-8.

In the first quarter, Deondrae Simmons found Breckin Wells open for a big 40-yard gain inside the White Oak 10-yard line. On the next play TJ Rainey took it in for the score which put the Rabbs up 6-0. The Rabbs recovered the ensuing kickoff, and started with good field position.

This time, Simmons found Noah Sheffield in the back of the end zone on a fade route to put Atlanta up 12-0.

In the second quarter, it was more of the same for the Rabbs. A nice drive set the Rabbits up deep in White Oak territory again, and Rainey finished the drive with a 12-yard run. Drake Faigen caught the 2-point throw which increased the score to 20-0.

In the third frame, White Oak put together a nice drive, and drained the entire quarter, moving the ball deep into Atlanta territory.

In the final quarter, White Oak completed a pass for a touchdown, and added the 2-point run to make it 20-8. The Rabbs answered right back on a 65yard dash from Simmons who tight roped down the sideline. Faigen caught the 2-point pass once again and the Rabbs were up 28-8.

Later in the quarter, after another big defensive stop, Jamario Crawford iced the game with a 66-yard sprint to the end zone to set the score at 34-8. Atlanta’s seventh grade A team moved to 6-0 on the year.

The seventh grade B team won 26-0. Braylon Cook scored from 10 yards out, Tristan Gaye scored from 70 yards out, AJ Falls scored from 70 yards out, and Noah Sheffield completed a 70-yard touchdown pass to Joey Hopkins.

The eighth grade A team won 38-16. In the first quarter, Liam McKinney found Landon Thomas wide open on the first play from scrimmage. He took it down inside the White Oak 5-yard line.

TJ Hamilton took it in a couple plays later. McKinney completed the 2-point pass to Jaylen Finley and the Rabbits were up 8-0.

On the ensuing drive, the Atlanta defense forced a punt, Hamilton caught it on the run and took the ball inside the White Oak 10-yard line. McKinney completed the slant route to Thomas to cap off the drive. McKinney ran in the 2-point run to put the Rabbs up 16-0.

In the second frame, White Oak put together a nice drive and cut into the Rabbs lead with a score of its own and the score was 16-8. Atlanta turned the ball over on downs on their next drive, but the Roughnecks were unable to move the ball.

Atlanta took back over in great field position. Hamilton sliced through the defense from 15 yards out for his second score of the game. McKinney completed the 2-point pass to Easton Patterson and the Rabbs increased its lead to 24-8.

In the third quarter, Jaden Smith intercepted a White Oak pass to set the Rabbs up nicely. Hamilton scored again from nine yards out, and AJ Falls ran in the 2-point to bring the score to 32-8. The Rabbs forced another turnover on their next drive, Patterson intercepted a fake punt attempt, and returned it all the way down to the 5-yard line.

In the fourth quarter, Patterson barreled into the end zone on the quarterback keeper which set the score at 38-8.

White Oak added a late score to bring it to a final score of 38-16. The AMS eighth grade A team moved to 5-1 on the year. This week the Atlanta Rabbits seventh and eighth grade teams travel to Gladewater to take on the Bears.
