Thomas Campbell Wall and Jannie Pauline Casey

On September 20, 1924, Thomas “Tom” Campbell Wall born February 9, 1907, married Jannie “Pauline” Casey born February 19, 1906. They ran away to Texarkana, Miller County, Arkansas to marry, but returned to Cass County to start a family. Tom & Pauline were a devoted couple and worked hard to provide for themselves and their children. They lived on approximately 60 acres of wooded and pasture land.

They raised cotton, com, watermelons, peanuts, sweet potatoes, sugar cane, had a garden, 2 mules and wagon. Tom had blonde hair and blue eyes and pretty straight white teeth. Pauline was a good cook and an excellent seamstress. She had black hair and brown eyes. She was a good mother and enjoyed caring for her children. Children as follows: (1) “Thelmarie” Dru born October 5, 1926. (2) “Tommie Jean” born September 22, 1928. (3) “Martha” Ann born April 18, 1930. (4). “Casey” Bruin born October 20,1931. (5). “Kenneth” Dale born September 27. 1933.

Tom was also a deacon and occasionally preached at the Huffines Baptist Church. Different stories have surfaced as to why Tom was taken to Terrell State Mental Hospital, but the family had no other choice. Pauline did her best to keep the family together, having to move several times taking the family away from Cass County. Raising 5 children on her own proved too difficult and in 1937 she placed her children in the care of the Waco Methodist Home in Waco, Texas. She: four id work in Dallas, Texas and visited often.

Thelmarie left the Waco Methodist Home in 1942 and married Robert Parker “Jim” Wilhite December 23, 1945. They have 6 children Patricia, Arlene, Jimmy, Robert, Joyce, and William. They lived in Rockwall, Texas, but moved to Lamed Kansas in 1951. Tommie Jean graduated from Texas Tech and served her internship at Colorado State Hospital as a dietitian where she met and married Fredrick “Fred” Lee Holloran May 8,1952. They lived in Pueblo, Colorado, and have 3 children, Fredrick “Dale,” “Donna” Kay and “Stacey” Ann. Martha left the home in 1947. She graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in Dallas and married “Johnnie” Edwin Daugherty June 26, 1948. They lived in the Dallas and. have 2 children, “Sharon” Kay and “Deborah” Jo. Casey left the home in 1947, and also attended school in Dallas. He married “Nancy” Belkin July 1,1955. They have 3 children “Steve” Bryan, “Brenda” Joy and “Paula” Inez. Kenneth also left the home in 1947.

After graduating from Rockwall High School, he joined the Navy and was stationed in San Diego, California. There he met and married “Sally” O’Leary June 18, 1955. They have 2 children, “Linda” and Thomas “Tommy”.

Pauline married again. She met Oliver “Ollie” Barrick while working at Dallas Cap and Emblem. They lived and worked in Dallas. Ollie worked for Freeman Decorating, Pauline continued sewing in her free time and had several customers in the Dallas area.

Pauline was a member of the McKinney Baptist Church. Tom came to visit from Terrell a few times throughout the years. He did not speak much, but we believe at times he did recognize his children and Pauline.

Tom passed away of heart failure on April 26, 1976 at Terrell State Hospital and is buried in Bethsaida Y Cemetery in Cass County, Texas. Pauline retired from Dallas Cap and Emblem in 1972. She moved to Mt. Enterprise and lived with her sisters Lyda and Babe. They moved there to be close to their brother Charlie. Pauline attended Mt. Enterprise Baptist Church. She moved back to Irving, Texas and then to Euless, Texas, where she attended McArthur Baptist Church in Irving and 1st Baptist Church of Euless. She passed away of pneumonia March 26,1995, and is buried at Rest land in Dallas, Texas.

Pauline’s parents are Emily Lenora “Nora” Steed born December 10, 1871 in Kosciusko, Attala County, Mississippi, and William Lafayette Casey born January 31, 1866 also in Kosciusko, Mississippi. William and Nora were married October 28, 1884 in Hinds County, Mississippi.

Tom’s parents are Robert “Bob Lee” Wall born May 13, 1875 in Macon, Bibb County, Georgia and DruSilla Hill born June 14,1879 in Cass County, Texas. Bob and Brasilia were married September 20,1894 in Cass County, Texas. On April 4, 1867 in Dawson, Terrell County, Georgia, William Gainer Wall born April 1845 in Dawson, Terrell County, Georgia married Julia Pauline Harp born March 22, 1851 in Macon, Terrell County, Georgia. William is the 2nd son of 4 children. William and Julia have 4 children. (1) Robert “Bob Lee” born May 13. 1875 in Macon, Bibb County, Georgia married DruSilla Hill September 20, 1894 in Cass County, Texas. (2) Ada Irene born August 22, 1869 in Dawson, Terrell County, Georgia married Eddie C. Loyless December 22, 1886. Eddie died August 21, 1896. (3) Leila Pauline born April 24,1878 in Dawson, Terrell County, Georgia married W.B. Reneau December 27, 1898 in Cass County. (4) Emmett Harp born March 11,1880 in Dawson, Terrell County, Georgia married Myrtle Alice Salmon February 9, 1902 in Cass County, Texas. William was a farmer and member of the Masonic Lodge. Julia was a housekeeper and member of the Eastern Star. They came to Cass County in 1889.

William died November 1, 1902 in Cass County, Texas. He is buried in Bethsaida Y Cemetery in Cass County, Texas. His headstone has the Masonic Lodge Emblem. Julia died November 13,1904 in Atlanta, Cass County, Texas. She is buried in the Bethsaida Y Cemetery in Cass County, Texas.

Parents of William are W. E. Wall born 1827 in Washington County, Georgia, and Lucinda Powell. W.E. is the 6th child of Jesse and Rebecca Gainer Wall.

Parents of W.E. are Jesse Wall born 1789 died 1864 married Rebecca Gainer in 1806 (born 1789, died 1864). Jesse Wall moved to Washington County, Georgia then to Lee County which later became Terrell County following a successful drawing in an 1850 land lottery. His number was 1690. Rebecca’s parents are William Gainer born 1758 in Petersburg, Virginia and Martha Williams Gainer born 1762. William Gainer was a soldier of the American Revolution.

Julia’s parents were charter members of Sardis Missionary Baptist Church. Terrell County, Georgia.
