AMS football teams throttle Sabine

Seventh Grade A AMS 36 – Sabine 12

In the first quarter and after a good return into Sabine territory the Rabbs set up with good field position. TJ Rainey darted around the left from 38 yards out to put the Rabbs up 6-0. Jamario Crawford added the 2-point run abd Atlanta was up 8-0.

On Sabine’s first drive, they drove inside the Rabbs’ 5-yard line, but Hayze Highland intercepted a tipped ball in the end zone. The Rabbs put together another Impressive drive, finished off by a 38-yard scamper from Crawford. Going into quarter number two Atlanta was up 14-0.

In the second quarter, Deondrae Simmons picked up a Sabine punt near the opposite sideline, and reversed his field and took it all the way home from 67 yards out. Simmons broke multiple tackles and zipped a nice pass to Highland who made a great catch to make it 22-0.

Sabine added a score to make it 22-6. The Rabbs answered back quickly as Rainey busted a 40-yard run deep into Sabine territory. Ean Riojas ran over a defender and barreled into the end zone from seven yards out to make it 28-6.

In the third frame, it was a back and forth battle for most of the quarter. Sabine added a score to make it 28-12.

In the fourth quarter, the Rabbs continued to play well on both sides of the ball. Simmons added another touchdown from 22 yards out on a QB keeper to make it 34-12. Simmons added the 2 -point to set the score at 36-12.

Seventh Grade B AMS 20 - Sabine 0

AJ Falls scored on a 1-yard run, Logan Johnson scored on a 30-yard run, and Najeh Watson scored from 20 yards out.

Eighth Grade A AMS 34 – Sabine 12

In the first quarter, the Rabbs’ defense forced a Sabine punt on their opening drive. The Rabbs’ offense struck quickly as Liam McKinney found Kaigen Lloyd for a 78-yard score. Atlanta was up 6-0.

In the second quarter and after another defensive stand McKinney found another open receiver, this time Easton Patterson, who broke a tackle, stayed on his feet and hit pay dirt. Jaylen Finley added the 2-point play to make it 14-0.

Later on, Sabine picked off a McKinney pass and took it all the way for a score to make it 14-6. Atlanta would not be flustered after the interception as a Sabine unsportsmanlike conduct gave Atlanta great field position with less than a minute in the half.

McKinney completed a nice pass to Patterson who made a one-handed grab and took it inside the 10. With three seconds on the clock McKinney escaped the pocket and found Patterson again in the end zone for the score. The scoreboard read 20-6 at the half.

In the third frame, the Rabbs’ offense put together an impressive drive with nice runs from TJ Hamilton, and Lloyd. The drive would take up the entire quarter and bleed into the fourth with the score still 20-6.

In the fourth quarter, the Rabbs finished their long drive after a McKinney run inside the 1-yard line. From there he punched it in on the sneak to make the score 26-6.

Sabine answered quickly to cut into the Rabbs’ lead. This would be short lived, once again, as Atlanta put together an impressive drive, bleeding more of the clock. This drive was led by Kam Williams.

He put together three nice runs, and finished the drive with a 12-yard run around the right end. McKinney added the 2-point play to make the score 3412. McKinney finished the night 7-of-9 passing for 215 yards and four touchdowns, three passing and one rushing.

Both the seventh and eighth grade teams move to 4-0 on the season. The Rabbs will host Jefferson this Thursday night with kickoff at 4:30 p.m.
