Seventh Grade

In the first frame, Atlanta drove deep into Leopard territory twice but fumbled the ball away. The Rabbs’ defense held up and played tough. Linebackers Ean Riojas and Cannon Hammonds led the swarm.

In the second quarter there was more of the same, both teams were unable to finish drives, leaving a 0-0 tie at the half.

In the third stanza, L-E got a big play to bust and score from 60 yards out to go up 6-0. On the ensuing drive, the Rabbs drove all the way inside the 2-yard line but turned the ball over again.

The Rabbs’ defense came up big on the next play as Deondrae Simmons tackled the L-E back in the end zone for a safety to make it 6-2.

Atlanta got the ball back in great field position on the free kick. TJ Rainey put the Rabbs on top with a 40-yard dart around the right edge. Simmons added the 2-point run to make it 10-6.

In the final quarter, Atlanta shut down a Leopard comeback with a big defensive stand, then ran the clock out to finish off the Leopards and move to 2-0.

Eighth Grade

In the first quarter, neither team could get anything going on offense as both defenses swarmed to the football. Defensive end Kam Williams, who ended up with six tackles for loss (TFL), two forced fumbles (FF) and a recovery on the night, led the way. He was unblockable.

In the second quarter, there was more of the same as both defenses continued to play lights out, and the score remained two goose eggs at the half.

The second half started with a big play, as Kaigen Lloyd returned the opening kickoff 88 yards for the score to put the Rabbs on top 6-0.

On the next Leopard drive, Williams forced a fumble and recovered it himself. The Rabbs drove down and scored again on a 1-yard QB keeper by Liam McKinney. The score was 12-0 until the Leopards answered with a huge run on their next drive to bring the score to 12-6.

In the final frame, both defenses continued to battle. The Rabbs put together a time consuming drive, but fell short in the red zone.

L-E was unable to do anything but go backwards and tried a long pass on fourth down that fell incomplete. With the win the Rabbs moved to 2-0.
