Joseph A. Howell

Joseph A. Howell was born ca. March 1823 in North Carolina having ancestral ties to Ireland. He died ca. 1900 and is buried in Courtland Cemetery, Cass County, Texas. On 14 June 1847, in Buncombe County, North Carolina, he married Rachel Sams who was born February 1832 in North Carolina and died after 1907, in Oklahoma where she was living with a daughter. Rachel was the daughter of Thomas Sams and Stacy [Cole] Sams of North Carolina. Joseph A. Howell and Rachel Sams Howell were the parents of nine children:

[2] Sarah Elizabeth “Sallie or Sis” Howell was born ca. 1853 in Cass County, Texas, and married ca. 1850 to T. N. Pilgrim. He was born ca. 1825 in South Carolina. Sarah E. and T. N. Pilgrim were parents of three children: Jenny, S.[?.] and John Wesley.

[3] Samuel H. Howell was born in 1856 in Cass County, Texas and on 06 June 1887, married M E. Ellis. No further information.

[4] J. Marion Howell was born in 1858 in Cass county, Texas and on 12 March 1894, married Mrs. M. A. Kennedy. No further information.

[5] J. Isaac Howell was born in 1861 in Cass County , Texas and died 15 December 1942. He is buried in Courtland Cemetery, Cass County, Texas. On 02 March 1891, he married Mary F. Crow. No further information.

[6] Monroe David Howell was born 29 April 1865 in Cass County, Texas and died 07 February 1932. On 01 December 1887, he married Eudora Frances Stuckey who was born 20 November 1869 in Alabama and died 28 January 1945. They are both buried in Courtland Cemetery, Cass County, Texas. Eudora Frances was the daughter of Albert Judson Stuckey and Nancy E. Sheppard. Monroe David Howell and Eudora Frances [Stuckey] Howell were the parents of ten children: Joseph Albert, John Henry, Maudie Lenora, Vina, Mattie, Clara Estelle, David Wesley, Noah Paul, Stella May, and Virgil.

[7] John Dennison Howell was born 04 February 1866 in Cass County, Texas and died 18 July 1922. On 01 December 1897, he married Lena Aulds who was born 31 May 1879 in Louisiana and died 18 December 1953. Both are buried in Shady Dale Cemetery, Cass County, Texas. John D. and Lena [Aulds] Howell wee the parents of fourteen children: Willie, Ollie, Erastus, Bertie, Ina, Hixie, Mattie Lee, Lester, Lois, Louis, Mary Frances Claudine, Earline, Ernestine, and John Morris.

[8] Lovick W. Howell was born 12 April 1870 in Cass County, Texas and died 11 June 1959. On 04 January 1905, he married Alice L. Adcock who was born 05 December 1888 and died 06 April 1970. They are both buried at Olive Branch Cemetery, Miller County, Arkansas. Lovick W. and Alice L. [Adcock] Howell were parents of at least one child: Albert W. No further information.

[9] George Washington Howell was born in February 1876 in Cass County, Texas and died after 1906 in Oklahoma. No further information.

Joseph Albert Howell was born on 02 December 1888 in Cass County, Texas and died 10 November 1984. He was the son of Monroe David Howell and Eudora Frances [Stuckey] Howell. On 22 September 1912 Joseph married Lucy Ada Lee who was born 15 September 1896 in Cass County, Texas and died 22 February 1971. Lucy Ada was (he daughter of Richard Henry Lee and Georgia Ann [Wall] Lee. Joseph and Lucy are buried in Springdale Cemetery, Cass County, Texas. They were the parents of three Children:

[1] Floyd Lavelle Howell was born 18 September 1913 in Call County, Texas. On 14 March 1938 he married Jessie Bernice “Sis” Williams who was born on 28 December 1917. No children.

[2] Velma Octavia Howell was born 14 March 1915 in Cass County, Texas. On 20 December 1936 she married Lonzo Wayne Hampton who was born 14 August 1909 and died 14 July 1974. He is buried at Springdale Cemetery, Cass County, Texas. Velma Octavia [Howell] Hampton and Lonzo Wayne Hampton were the parents of four children: Joseph Henry, Floyd Wayne, Robert Dan, and Lucy Angela.

[3] Joseph Lee “Bossy” Howell was born 24 July 1917 in Cass County, Texas and died 15 December 1971. He married Sybil Irene Graves who was born 07 January 1920 and died 03 June 1977. Both are buried at Springdale Cemetery, Cass County, Texas. Joseph Lee and Sybil Irene [Graves] Howell were parents of two children: Tracy Lee and Nancy Gale.

Noah Paul Howell was born 03 March 1905 in Cass County, Texas and died 11 February 1995. On 27 March 1926 he married Ona Mae Brazel who was born 19 September 1907 in Parker County, Texas and died 11 January 1976. Both are buried at Springdale Cemetery, Cass County, Texas. Ona Mae was the daughter of Darrell Brazell and Mary English [Roberts] Brazell. Noah Paul Howell and Ona Mae [Brazell] Howell were the parents of seven Children:

[1] Paul Jarvis Howell was born 23 February 1927 in Cass County, Texas, and married Betty Donley. Paul and Betty [Donley] Howell were the parents of three children: Julene, Rhonda, and Kevin. No further information.

[2] Billy Ray Howell was born 03 February 1930 in Cass County, Texas. He first married Wilma Jean Blake and they were parents of two children: Charlotte Rhea and Bill Paul. Billy /Ray married secondly, LaCleda Lucille Adams [Graham]. They were the parents of one child: Noah Raymond “Willie”. Billy Ray has four Graham stepchildren: Tina Lea, James Riley “Jay”, Sharon, and Gary Wayne.

[3] Robert Leroy Howell was born 07 February 1934 in Cass County, Texas, and married Betty Heldt. Robert Leroy Howell and Betty [Heldt] Howell were parents of four children: Robbie, Joseph, Rebecca, and Rachel. No further information.

[4] Margorie Elizabeth Howell was born on 10 July 1936 in Cass County, Texas and died on 18 June 1938. She is buried in Springdale Cemetery, Cass County, Texas.

[5] Mary Joyce Howell was born 03 December 1939 in Cass County, Texas, and married Robert C. Donley. Mary Joyce [Howell] Donley and Robert C. Donley were parents of three children: Gregory Alan, Laura, and Steven.

[6] Carol Ann Howell was born 17 December 1941 in Cass County, Texas, and married Charlie Harbour. Carol Ann [Howell] Harbour and Charlie Harbour were parents of two children: Michael who died at birth and Lanette. No further information.

[7] Verna May Howell was born 08 August 1943 in Cass County, Texas. She first married Tommy Brown. They were parents of four children: David Wayne, Paul, Bobby, and Ricky. Verna May married secondly Olen Cornelius and they were the parents of one child: Tammy. No further information.
