Dr. Dan retiring after 52 years
Genesis Prime-Care Ellington Memorial Clinic announced on June 28, 2022, that Dr. Joe Daniel Nichols, JR. is retiring from practicing medicine on August 31, 2022. Dr. Dan has been a well-known, respected doctor in the community that has served for 52 years. For many in the community, it will be a “wrenching farewell”.
Dr. Joe Daniel Nichols, Jr. has faithfully served the Atlanta community for 52 years, often arriving early and staying late. Dr. Nichols states, “It has been my pleasure to serve our community as a family physician. I have had the privilege of meeting many great people and developing lifelong friendships. Over the past five decades-plus, I have watched many families grow and have shared heartache and joy with hundreds of patients. Now it is time for me to retire and pass along my patients to other competent physicians and healthcare providers at Genesis PrimeCare. I appreciate your loyalty throughout the years and will take the memories I have experienced with me into retirement. I wish you good health and happiness.”

Genesis PrimeCare Ellington Memorial Clinic is honoring Dr. Nichols’ retirement with a Come & Go reception. The reception will be in the foyer at the Christus St. Michael Hospital -1007 S. William ST. Atlanta, TX., August 29th 2022, 5:30PM–7:30PM. We invite the community to attend and visit with Dr. Dan.
Genesis PrimeCare Ellington Memorial Clinic has been a vital part of our community for many years. When the clinic was founded as Ellington Memorial Hospital in 1936, it was driven by a true love for our community and a desire to care for the people in our community. Over the years, there has been much growth and change, but the small core values are still upheld today.
