A ‘Rowdy’ fundraiser is Friday

Every year around this time Rowdy Haley begins working to collect money for his Birthday Fundraiser. The goal of his Fundraiser is to give as much as he can to someone else for his birthday (June 29).

With each birthday that passes, Rowdy does things differently to raise money, but the one thing he definitely does each year is ask his friends and family to donate to his fundraiser rather than give him birthday gifts. Some of the other ways he raises money is by:

- selling t-shirts

- hosting Chili Dog Stands

- having a Chicken Spaghetti Supper

- holding a raffle

- entering homemade wooden-paper towel holders in a silent auction

So far, all Rowdy’s attempts to raise money have been a success.

He began his fundraising journey when he turned six years old. He collected 297 lbs. of non-perishable food items and donated them to the Food Pantry at the Linden United Methodist Church.

When he turned seven, he raised $477.01 and gave it to Shriners Hospitals for Children in Shreveport, LA.

For his eighth birthday, he donated $1,333.34 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

As he turned nine, he contributed $1,550.00 to Shriners Hospitals.

When he turned ten, he gave $1,910.05 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

AND last year for his eleventh birthday, he donated a whopping $3,414.73 to Shriners Hospital!

That’s a total of $8,685.14 (plus food items) that he has donated since he began!

Rowdy is working hard to hit the $10,000 dollar mark this year, and with your help he will. There is one more chance to support his fundraiser.

Please come this Friday, June 17th to Rowdy’s annual Chili Dog Stand. It will be from 11am until 2 p.m. at the Linden Garden Club, 300 E. Houston St., Linden, Texas. He will be serving Eckrich sausage links on a bun topped with homemade chili and all the fixins. Rowdy says they are the best chili dogs in town! A drink and chips will come with the chili dog for the price of $10. Homemade desserts will be available for $3 each, and the air conditioning is FREE! Rowdy will also be selling t-shirts for $20-$22.
