The City of Linden Announces Revitalization Grant

The City of Linden is excited that announce our TDA Main Street Downtown grant has begun to be implemented. Contech Contractors, Incorporated out of Texarkana, Texas had the low bid of $378,080.31 and began their contract the week of June 6, 2022, with the sidewalk extension on North Main to the former Congressman Wright Patman’s house. This portion of the extension provides for a connection Downtown to one of our very important historical residences which is also the oldest home in our community.

The grant will provide for sidewalk extensions which will extend the walkability of our Downtown and will provide for a complete renovation of 2 blocks of Rush Street. Having a grant provide funds for repairs of Rush Street relieves pressure off of the Street Bond, further extending the borrowed monies to fix streets throughout other areas of our community.

This grant is further proof of the benefits of being a part of Main Street Texas. This is a specific grant awarded to Texas Main Street community members. The City Council believes the Downtown is the heart and economic base of our community per our vision statement and this grant provides revitalization and an investment assisting in incubating growth in this important vicinity.

This $378 thousand grant investment into the downtown is a portion of the revitalization blueprint of our community, which is investing now and in the near future, approximately $13 million, into our infrastructure to generate a sustainable service base for our citizens, tourists, and future citizens.
