If we have love
1 st John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God for God is love.
The Apostle Paul talks about love, (real love) in 1 st Corinthians 13. He says that love is longsuffering, patient with the short coming of others, love is kind and gracious. Love doesn’t envy, or wish for what belongs to another. Love doesn’t vaunt itself, and it does not brag or boast of its own.
We understand that we are all different, with different abilities, gifts, and personalities. Yet with all of our differences, we can still live and work in harmony because love holds us together. God doesn’t require that we accomplish some great task, but he does require us to have love. Without the presence of love, all else we do is in vain.
The world doesn’t know us as Christians because of our church affiliation, or the claims that we make. Jesus said in John 13:35, by this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another. All that we do in this life will one day pass away and be forgotten. And when we stand before God, the things we once thought so important, won’t even be worthy of mention.
The bible speaks of faith, hope, and love. And the bible says that the greatest of these is love. For on that day that we stand before Christ, faith will be turned to reality, hope will be turned to rejoicing, only love will remain. More than ever before, this world needs to see the reality of Christ in our lives. This is only reflected through his love in us.
