First Priority

What is the first priority of our life? Jesus knew who he was, and his first priority was his relationship with his heavenly Father. There is a lesson here for our lives.

In Luke 2:49, Jesus gave no disrespect to Mary or Joseph. But he knew what his mission was. And he also knew that everything must take second place to the mission the Heavenly Father puts before us.

His mission was: 1. Manifest the nature of God 2. Do the works of God 3. Do the will of God.

The nature of God is love, and this must be expressed to the world. To do the works of God is to be his hand extended. And to do the will of God is to walk in obedience to his word.

These were always first priority in the life of Jesus. He displayed the love of God to friends and enemies alike. In John 13:1 - having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end. And on the cross he prayed for his persecutors and said in Luke 23:34 - Father forgive them for they know not what they do.

He did the works of God, he never turned any away who came to him in need. He was moved with compassion, he healed and fed the multitudes.

Christ did the will of God always being obedient to the Father. The Apostle Paul said in Philippians 2:8 - And being found in fashion of man, he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

May our relationship with our heavenly Father always have first priority in our lives.
