Queen City track and field takes part in Area Meet
Queen City’s track program took part in the 13-3A and 14-3A Area Track Meet on Apr. 20, at Winnsboro High School. Both sides had athletes move on to the Regional Meet.
Varsity Boys
Trent Granberry placed third in the 400m dash at 52.01, Manasseh Drayton placed fourth in high jump at 6 feet even and Cedric Davis placed second in shot with a toss of 44 feet even.
All three advanced to Regionals.
Varsity Girls
Toni McCellon made a case for state as she blew the competition away in the 300m hurdles with a time of 47.49; 1.14 better than the runner-up and Serenity Oden placed fifth in the 400m dash at 1:07.33.
The 4x100m relay team of Jamecia Cook, Oden, McCellon and Nyla Harrison placed fifth at 51.56, the 4x200m relay team of Brooklyn Garner, Cook, Cassidy Johnson and Harrison placed fourth at 1:50.17 and the 4x400m relay team of Garner, Oden, McCellon and Harrison placed fourth at 4:21.02.
Last year’s state qualifier in the triple jump, Cassidy Johnson, placed second overall at 37 feet, 4 inches and Harrison placed third at 35 feet, 9 1/4 inches and in long jump McCellon placed fifth at 16 feet, 3/4 inches.
First through fourth place finishers advanced. The Regional Meet is scheduled for Apr. 29-30, at Whitehouse High School.
