On Apr. 7, Queen City’s girls’ track squad competed in the Elysian Fields Track Meet and won first place overall with a season high of 172 points.
In the 100m hurdles Lola Gladden placed first and Taylor Ward fifth, in the 300m hurdles Toni McCellon placed first and Lola Gladden fifth, in the 400m dash Serenity Oden placed first, in the 800m run Erica Lavoie placed third, in the 1600m run Erica Lavoie placed first and Zoey Breach sixth and in the 3200m run Keri Fomby placed second.
The 4x100m relay team of Oden, McCellon, Jamecia Cook and Nyla Harrison placed first overall, the 4x200m relay team of Gladden, Cook, Brooklyn Garner and Harrison placed second and the 4x400m relay team of Oden, Garner, Cook and McCellon placed second.
In field events McCellon placed first in high jump and second in long jump, Oden placed third in high jump and fifth in triple jump, Cassidy Johnson placed second in triple jump and teammate Nyla Harrison placed third, garner placed sixth in long jump and in discus Laterica Jackson placed first, Kacy McCall fourth and Erica Lavoie fifth.
On Apr. 13, Queen City’s track program competed in the district track meet at Atlanta High School.
Varsity Boys
In the 400m dash Trent Granberry placed second overall at 52.38 and in the 110m hurdles Quiyon Ellison placed fifth at 17.57.
The 4x100m relay team of Granberry, Delvon Federick, Manasseh Drayton and Jeremiah Drayton placed sixth at 45.00 and the 4x200m relay team of Federick, Ellison, M. Drayton and J. Drayton placed fifth at 1:36.60.
In shot Cedric Davis placed first overall with a solid toss of 44 feet, 7 1/2 inches, in high jump Manasseh Drayton placed third at 5 feet, 10 inches and in triple jump Ellison placed fifth at 41 feet, 1 inch.
Varsity Girls
In the 400m dash Serenity Oden placed third at 1:04.93, in the 3200m run Keri Fomby placed fifth at 14:49.09 and in the 300m hurdles Toni McCellon placed first overall with a time of 48.16.
The 4x100m relay team of Nyla Harrison, Oden, McCellon and Jamecia Cook placed fourth at 51.81, the 4x200m relay team of Harrison, Cassidy Johnson, Jameica Cook and Brooklyn Garner placed third at 1:50.20 and the 4x400m relay team of Oden, McCellon, Cook and Garner placed second at 4:22.47.
In triple jump Johnson placed first with a leap of 37 feet, 7 inches and Harrison placed second at 36 feet, 10 1/2 inches, in long jump McCellon placed second at 16 feet, 4 inches, in high jump Oden and
McCellon placed 5-6 with equal marks of 4 feet, 10 inches and in discus Chyna Stiger placed sixth at 85 feet, 3 inches.
JV Boys
The JV boys’ team placed second overall.
In the 200m dash Rylee Green placed third at 25.25, in the 400m dash Nicolas Herring placed fifth at 56.75, in the 110m hurdles Sebastian Aleman placed fourth at 20.35, in the 300m hurdles Aleman placed fifth at 49.06, in the 800m run Isaac Thomas placed fourth at 2:26.49, in the 1600m run Xavior Allison placed third at 5:34.26, Luke Moore placed fourth at 5:36.88 and Timothy Brady placed sixth at 5:37.95 and in the 3200m run Brady, Allison and Nathan Upchurch placed 4-5-6 with times of 12:34.42, 12:41.95 and 12:46.07 respectively.
The 4x100m relay team of Christian Nard, Herring, Brandon Harwell and Green placed second at 47.11, the 4x200m relay team of Nard, Harwell, Green and Lathan Chamblee placed third at 1:40.96 and the 4x400m relay team of Thomas, Herring, Harwell and Aleman placed fifth at 3:57.98.
In long jump Green placed second with a leap of 18 feet, 7 1/2 inches, in triple jump Brayden Wiley placed fourth at 35 feet, 8 1/2 inches, in discus Tyson Bell placed fifth with a heave of 90 feet, 1 inch and in pole vault Thomas placed second at 9 feet, 6 inches and both Moore and Jeremiah Henderson tied for third with marks of 9 feet even.
On Apr. 6, Linden-Kildare hosted the District 16- 2A track meet.
The Lady Tigers were within striking distance of first place but placed second overall by the end of the competition.
In the 100m dash Madilyn Bynum won first place with a time of 12.97 and teammate Ashtin Patterson placed fourth with a time of 13.80, in the 200m dash Bynum placed first at 27.84, in the 400m dash Charis Minson placed second at 1:09.12, in the 800m run Minson placed fifth at 2:51.50, in the 100m hurdles Allie Smallwood placed sixth at 21.50, Kyndal Fitts placed first in the 300m hurdles at 55.02 and Zoe Love placed fifth in the 300m hurdles at 1:01.59.
In L-K’s only relay the 4x100m team of Rylee Burns, Bynum, Minson and Patterson blazed to a first place finish at 54.00.
In the field events, LaSonya Nard finished first in shot with a heave of 37 feet, 6 inches, Kaycee Neville finished second with a toss of 32 feet, 10 1/2 inches and Madison Ebarb placed third with a throw of 31 feet, 1 inch, in long jump Minson and Love placed 4-5, Burns placed second in discus with a mark of 82 feet, 7 inches and bot Yedith Uribe and Hailey Lane competed hard all year in their respective events and improved their times each meeting.
For the boys’ team, Jay Birmingham won a district title in the 100m dash at 11.32 and in the long jump with a mark of 19 feet, 5 1/2 inches and Asher Wells won a district crown by placing first in the 200m dash at 23.03.
Second place finishers were the 4x100m and 4x200m relay teams of Daquavious Richardson, Wells, Charlie Kirkland and Birmingham.
Third place finishers were Birmingham in the high jump and Richardson in the 100m dash and Michael Lane placed fifth in the 400m dash and sixth in the 3200m run.
For the JV boys Hayden Helm placed third in the 800m run, Jared Humphrey placed third in the 400m dash and other competitors included Logan Grandmaison (800m), Dennis Turner (Shot and Discus), Kinson Eaton (400m), Garrett Osborne (100, 200), Trey Phillips (400) and Caiden Johnson (800m).
