Atlanta’s track program sweeps district meet
Atlanta’s varsity boys’, varsity girls’ and JV boys’ track teams all won district titles on Apr. 13, at the 14-3A District Meet hosted by Atlanta.
The varsity boys rolled up 214 points, 124 points better than second place Pewitt and Redwater, the varsity girls put up 178 points, 86 points better than second place DeKalb, and the JV boys earned 255 points, 155 points better than second place Queen City.
Varsity Boys
In the 100m dash Zakyus Jackson placed first at 11.41 and Ahmani Jackson placed fifth at 11.65, in the 200m dash Markeylin Batton placed first at 22.91 and Matthew Cauley placed third at 23.51, in the 400m dash Eli Riojas placed third at 53.10 and Antonio Williams placed fifth at 53.70, in the 100m hurdles Stacy Darty placed first at 16.03 and in the 300m hurdles Darty placed first at 41.25, Markavion Owens placed fifth at 43.71 and Marquayvious Richardson placed sixth at 44.31.
Matthew Morin was in beastmode in the long distance races as he placed first in the 800m, 1600m and 3200m.
In the 800m Morin turned in a time of 2:06.01, in the 1600m he crossed the finish line at 4:52.32 and in the 3200m he hit 10:53.18.
Andrew Allen and Chris Swanson placed 3-4 in the 800m run with times of 2:18.44 and 2:18.65 respectively, Swanson placed sixth in the 1600m run at 5:25.72 and in the 3200m run Swanson placed fourth at 11:44.56 and Allen placed fifth at 12:10.42.
The varsity boys swept the relays. The 4x100m relay team of Isaiah Chandler, Batton, JaBranden Wells and A. Jackson placed first at 42.62, the 4x200m relay team of Chandler, Z, Jackson, Wells and Cauley placed first at 1:29.02 and the 4x400m relay team of Chandler, Wells, Cauley and Riojas placed first at 3:27.17.
In long jump Darty placed first at 21 feet, 2 3/4 inches and Owens placed fourth at 19 feet, 9 3/4 inches, in triple jump Darty placed first at 44 feet, 1/2 inch and Caleb King placed third at 41 feet, 9 1/2 inches, in shot Caden Walker placed third at 41 feet, 7 1/2 inches and Dekorian Parker placed sixth at 39 feet, 5 inches and in pole vault Adrian Kennington placed second at 11 feet, 6 inches and Swanson placed fourth at 11 feet even.
Varsity Girls
In the 100m dash Caitlynn Bailey placed second at 13.55, in the 200m dash Carlajah Adger placed fifth at 28.18, in the 400m dash MaKayla Martin placed second at 1:04.79, McKenzie Martin placed fourth at 1:05.31 and Serenity Duckett placed fifth at 1:05.21 and in the 300m hurdles Kym Sheppard placed second at 51.47 and Elliana Edwards placed fourth at 52.78.
In the 800m run Kaylon Partain placed first at 2:32.93, AnnMarie Hanner placed third at 2:40.84 and Amelia Jones placed fourth at 2:43.44, in the 1600m run Aurelia Giesler placed first at 5:56.90, Jones placed third at 6:14.86 and Emma Allen placed fourth at 6:15.22 and in the 3200m run Giesler placed first at 13:3021, Allen placed second at 14:04.75 and Jones Placed third at 14:28.17.
The 4x100m relay team of Toya Hurd, MaKaylin King, Adger and Bailey placed second at 50.87, the 4x200m relay team of Hurd, Zariah Johnson, King and Adger placed fourth at 1:51.30 and the 4x400m relay team of Hurd, King, MaKayla Martin and Partain placed first at 4:14.58.
In long jump Sheppard placed first at 16 feet, 4 1/2 inches and Hurd placed sixth at 15 feet, 5 1/2 inches, in high jump Bailey placed second at 5 feet, 4 inches, in triple jump Sheppard placed third at 35 feet, 6 1/2 inches, Adger placed fourth at 34 feet, 1 1/2 inches and Destinee Webster placed sixth at 33 feet, 5 3/4 inches, in discus Chanya Clark placed fifth with a toss of 86 feet, 10 inches and in shot KeyMya Smith placed fifth at 31 feet, 1/4 inch.
JV Boys
In the 100m dash Xavier Nash placed first at 11.78, Bralyn Rowe placed second at 11.80 and Jalarrion Andrews placed fifth at 12.34, in the 200m dash Cooper Swanson placed first at 23.39 and Carmello Henderson placed second at 24.93, in the 400m dash Chase Kindred placed second at 55.37 and Allen Leach placed fourth at 55.89, in the 110m hurdles Dekarvea Range placed first at 19.22 and Dimoree Limbrick placed second at 19.25 and in the 300m hurdles Limbrick placed first at 45.42 and Range placed fourth at 47.34.
In the 800m run Will Davis and Ethan Scott placed 2-3 with times of 2:21.63 and 2:25.33 respectively, in the 1600m run Scott placed first at 5:28.45, Owen Flint placed second at 5:33.55 and Davis placed fifth at 5:37.91 and in the 3200m run Scott placed first at 12:11.57, Davis placed second at 12:20.97 and Flint placed third at 12:26.82.
The JV boys swept the relays. The 4x100m relay team of Hudson Hale, Swanson, Rowe and Nash placed first at 44.55, the 4x200m relay team of Hale, Rowe, Nash and Henderson placed first at 1:35.87 and the 4x400m relay team of Hale, Swanson, Kindred and Leach placed first at 3:47.62.
In long jump Swanson placed third at 18 feet, 3 1/2 inches and Limbrick placed fourth at 17 feet, 9 1/2 inches, in high jump Aidan Boston placed second at 5 feet, 10 inches, Limbrick placed fourth at 5 feet, 8 inches and Rowe placed fifth at 5 feet, 6 inches, in triple jump Limbrick placed second at 38 feet, 5 1/2 inches, in pole vault Swanson and Sye Stroman tied in sixth place with marks of 8 feet, 6 inches, in discus Jack Plunk placed second at 102 feet, 6 inches and in shot Kheaton Kinney placed first at 37 feet, 4 inches and Nash placed fourth at 34 feet, 7 inches.
