On Mar. 29, Atlanta tennis had a great day as several athletes advanced to regionals and the boys’ team won a district title.
Sam Jones advanced to regionals after a second-place finish in boys’ singles and Micah Lampshire finished third as first alternate in boys’ singles. In boys’ doubles, Landon Moore and Jackson Dillinger placed third and first alternate to regionals.
Gabby Rigdon finished second in girls’ singles and advanced to regionals, and in girls’ doubles, Jasman Lindley and Alex Brown finished third and first alternate to regionals.
In mixed doubles, Will Davis and Galexi Jett won second place and advanced to regionals.
On Mar. 28, McLeod’s tennis program competed at district in Hughes Springs.
The varsity boys’ team won the team district championship and all seven players qualified for regionals. In varsity girls’ doubles, Chassie Gryder and Rielyn Schubert were crowned district champions, and in varsity boys’ doubles, Jase Deaton and Jaxon Smith were crowned district champions.
Austin McGray and Preston Bishop were the varsity boys’ doubles district runner-up team, and Kannon Dempsey was the varsity boys’ singles district runner-up. Kale Parker was the JV boys’ singles district champion and in JV boys’ doubles, Jay Greene and Cole Autry placed first, Heath Shelton and TJ Klingensmith placed second and Logan McClain and Ben Parker placed third.
Linden-Kildare’s tennis program competed in the 16-2A District Tournament on Mar. 28, at Hughes Springs. First and second place finishers advanced to the regional tournament. Third place finishers were tabbed as regional alternates.
The Regional Tennis Tournament is April 11-14 in Richland Hills.
In girls’ singles Sydney Hampton placed third and in mixed doubles Trey Phillips and Hayley Mason placed first and Cade Bynum and Rylee Burns placed third. In girls’ doubles Presley Turner and Nayeli Fuentes placed third and Charis Minson and Lindley Vickers placed fourth, and in boys’ doubles Cadin Johnson and Ruston Hargett placed fourth.
