That Good Part

Luke 10:38-42 - And it came to pass as they went, that he entered into a certain village, and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house, and she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered (distracted) about much serving, and came to him and said Lord, dost thou not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art troubled about many things: But one thing is needful, and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

We see where Jesus did not say, Mary get up and go help your sister, you should be ashamed of yourself making her do all the work. But instead, Jesus addressed Martha, and said to her, Martha you are worried, troubled about many things, and it is needful, it’s necessary that you should be sitting where Mary is sitting. It’s needful in your life that you choose that good part, because it shall not be taken from you.

What is that good part?

1 John 1:1 - That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon and our hands have handled, of the Word of life.

That good part isn’t what, but Who!

He’s the Word of Life, the Word made flesh, God in the flesh, and he is needful in every life!

The Savior, that shall not be taken away from those that believe in him. That has made him Lord and Savior of their life. That which we have seen and heard, beheld and touched through the Spirit is That Good Part! And He won’t be taken away from anyone who chooses that good part!

King David knew to choose that good part a thousand years before Mary.

Psalm 27:4 - One thing have I desired of the Lord, that (that one thing) will I seek after, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold (look upon) the beauty (delightfulness) of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.

Psalm 42:1-2 - as the deer pants after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, oh God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God, when shall I come and appear before God?

Jesus gives the answer in St. John, at the feast of Tabernacles, he stood and cried out to the crowd, “If any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink, and out of your bellies shall flow rivers of living water.”

“He that hungers and thirsts after righteousness shall be filled.”

No Martha, I’m not sending Mary to the kitchen to bake bread, ‘I Am’ the bread of Life that came down from heaven. It’s needful for you to join Mary in hearing my words, for they are Spirit and they are Life. It’s needful for you to choose That Good Part, and it shall not be taken from you!

Will you choose That Good Part? God bless.
