QC archers compete at state tournament

Queen City’s archery teams competed in the NASP Texas State Tournament on Mar. 22 and 23.

The Queen City Archery team consisted of 150 archers this year. Out of those 150, 76 archers competed on March 22-23 in the Texas State NASP Archery Tournament in Belton, along with 2,992 other Texas archers in grades 4-12.

QC has an Elementary team, a Middle School team and a High School team that advanced to the highly anticipated 2022 NASP Nationals on May 12- 14. Queen City student archers, coaches, and parents will travel to the Bluegrass state’s Exposition Center (KEC) located in Louisville, Kentucky where more than 16,000 archers are expected to compete on the national stage.

Here are the results: In Bullseye (Traditional Targets) our Elementary Team total score was 2830 placing them at sixth out of the 30 elementary division teams competing this year, our Middle School Team total score was 3144 placing them at sixth out of the 50 Middle school division teams competing this year and our High School Team total score was 3134 placing them at 17th out of the 65 High school division teams competing this year.

In 3-D (Animal Targets) our Elementary Team total score was 1295 placing them at fourth out of the 30 elementary division teams competing this year, our Middle School Team total score was 1559 placing them at fourth out of the 50 Middle school division teams competing this year and our High School Team total score was 1576 placing them at 10th out of the 65 High school division teams competing this year.

Individual Qualifiers for Nationals are: MacKenzie Gaskin, Emily Raines, T.J. Guest and Caleb Kimble.

Elementary Team Qualifiers for Nationals are: Markies Sasser, Emma Derring, Peyton Fahrney, Raylon Dowden, Peyton Coats, Mariah Simmons, Brentlee Thompson, Journey Dowden, Matthew Griffen, Jack Sumpter, T.J. Rose, Payton Salers, Braxton Jones, Brynlee Farmer, Jacey Knight and MacKenzie Gaskin.

Middle School Team Qualifiers for Nationals are: T.J. Guest, Ryan Raines, Caleb Kimble, James Gladden, Macy Snelgrove, Eli Eilliott, Chris Brown, Gracie Alexander, Wynter Niedens, Ryan Lee, Anna Leigh Young, Easton West, Bailee Black, Carter Aucion, Brady Majors and Sam Clayton.

High School Team National Qualifiers are: Emily Raines, Austin Fahrney, Bailey Endsley, Erica Lavoie, Clint Wooding, Joseph Revey, Lexi Engledowl, Abbigail Poole, Isaac Thomas, Corey Black, Trent Granberry, Jaron Jaynes and Kaylin Butler.

The following are those that competed at the State Tournament. Easley.

This year’s State Middle School Teams consisted of: T.J. Guest, Ryan Raines, Caleb Kimble, James Gladden, Macy Snelgrove, Eli Eilliott, Chris Brown, Gracie Alexander, Wynter Niedens, Ryan Lee, Anna Leigh Young, Easton West, Bailee Black, Carter Aucion, Brady Majors, Sam Clayton, Hunter Warren, James Jones, Elijah Adams, Caitlyn Sponholtz, Gerald Malina, Xander Brown, Brody Russell, Peyton Granado, Nicolas Nash, Cameron Clarke, Kaxon Carrell and Karter Klarke.

This year’s State High School Team consisted of: Emily Raines, Austin Fahrney, Bailey Endsley, Erica Lavoie, Clint Wooding, Joseph Revey, Lexi Engledowl, Abbigail Poole, Isaac Thomas, Corey Black, Trent Granberry, Jaron Jaynes and Kaylin Butler.

All of the participating archers also received the Academic Archer awards for their excellence in academics.
